John Wayne Young

John Wayne Young, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 87, in Clearfield, Utah. Born on September 24, 1937, in Ogden, Utah, he was the son of John Enoch Young and Lois Barlow.

John dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his community and country. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he developed a deep sense of duty and commitment that characterized his later career. His professional journey included notable positions with the Layton Jaycees, Young's Gift Shop, employment at Sea Breeze Travel, and a successful retirement from Hill Air Force Base.

Throughout his life, John lived in various places, including Layton and Clearfield, Utah, Desert Center, California, and Star Valley, Wyoming. Each location held special memories and experiences that contributed to his rich tapestry of life.

John enjoyed numerous hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. He had a passion for golf, finding solace on the greens; fishing, which offered tranquility by the water; hunting, through which he cherished time spent outdoors; and traveling, where his adventurous spirit could roam freely.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold his memory close. John is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ibison Young; sons Wayne J. (Lauri) Young; daughters Marsha (Chris) Combe; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren and Laree Spencer (Sister). He is preceded in death by his father John E. Young, mother Lois Young, sister Lois Ann Chalker, and brother Brent Young.

The legacy of John Wayne Young lives on through the bonds he created and the lessons he imparted. His kindness, strength, and unwavering support will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
