John Raymond Shannon, a dedicated and hardworking individual known for his sharp intellect and unwavering commitment, passed away on March 11, 2026.
Born on November 13, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, John was raised and educated in his hometown, where the foundation of his esteemed character was laid.
Throughout his life, John exemplified dedication in all his pursuits, proudly serving many honorable years with the United States Air Force. His service was marked by a steadfast sense of duty and honor, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a passionate traveler, embracing the opportunity to explore new places and cultures with enthusiasm and curiosity.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Shannon who stood by his side and shared in the many chapters of their life together, son, Raymond Christopher Brieger, (Germany), his 2 neices, Shannon Stroud and Tracey Gombar. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Shannon and Mary Wanley.
John Raymond Shannon’s legacy is one of service, intelligence, and devotion—a testament to a life well lived. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew him.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, following Rosary at 5 p.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park.
