John Kevin Machenheimer
WEST POINT a" John Kevin Machenheimer passed away December 2, 2011. He was born to John E and Bernice McKevlin Machenheimer on November 15, 1956, in Austin, Texas. He married LenAC. Wiggins. They later divorced. He married Barbara Ann James on August 16, 1996 in Layton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bountiful LDS Temple.
He was a proud NDSU Alumnus, and received a Master''s degree in System Architecture. He was a systems engineer for Mitre in San Diego, California. He served his country in the United States Air Force, living in Minot, North Dakota, and later settling in West Point, Utah. He was a member of the West Point LDS 5th Ward, served as a home teacher, and loved to sing.
The love of John''s life was his family. He was a master gardener. He loved the outdoors, riding ATV''s, and looked forward to spending time in his new home on the Salmon River. He was a voracious reader, and incredibly passionate about "Lord of the Rings." He was driven by "the 3 I''s", Intelligence, Integrity, and Industry. He was someone who never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, two sons, Joel, Ogden; and Jared, Layton; three daughters, Candace (Daniel) Hood, Clinton; Angie (Jeremy) van Leer, Clearfield; and Mandy (Josh) Nufrio, Sunset; and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Bernice "Babs", Machenheimer, Minot, ND; two sisters, Sally (Joel) Dighans, Nebraska, and Laura Machenheimer, Minot, ND.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son John D. and brother Robert.
The family would like to extend their most heart-felt thanks to the wonderful individuals that took care of John during his treatments at Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the University of Utah Hospital. Special thanks to Adam and Susan at Tender Care Hospice, whose loving care meant the world to us.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary Chapel, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Tuesday evening from 6 a" 8 p.m. at the mortuary and on Wednesday from 12:45 a" 1:45 p.m. prior to services.
Interment, West Point City Cemetery.
