John Richard Lanham

John Richard Lanham passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 in Clearfield, Utah at the age of 89.  He was born on February 12, 1934 in Longmont, Colorado, the youngest of six children of Urless and Francis (Norton) Lanham.  He served in the Army and the Colorado National Guard and graduated in Education in 1964 from the Colorado State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado.  John worked for the Mesa County School District for 25 years as a science teacher at the Orchard Mesa Junior High and Middle School in Grand Junction, Colorado.  He most appreciated being the sponsor of the Science Club and supporting the Science Fairs in the area.

John married Peggy (Margaret) Pennington in 1956 in Longmont Colorado.  They had three children:  Linda, Gregory, and Susan Jean.  Following John’s retirement, Peggy and John participated in craft shows throughout Colorado and in Moab, Utah.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years and his two daughters.  Surviving is his son, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
