Born May 10, 1936, in Ogden, Utah, to Charles Kenneth Byram and Luella Hodson Byram. He married Mary LaVera Imlay, March 17, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple the late Ezra Taft Benson officiated. Together they have five children: Cymbre (Dan) Rowser, Scot Darrell (Amanda) Byram, Shawn Carl Byram, Kimberly Byram, Kaila Janet (Chris) Alvey. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers: Verl (Ingrid) and Val, and a sister-in-law Linda. He is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Luella, two brothers William and Lamont and a great-grandson Sterling.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Samoan Islands where he developed a great love for the people and language that he still spoke. He held various positions within the church, including being an ordinance worker in the Ogden Utah Temple, serving in the ward Elder’s Quorum Presidency, being a primary teacher, as well as a ward missionary and a stake missionary.
He worked for Cole Transfer and Storage, Albion Laboratories, Wilson Packing, and was the secretary for Bambrough Irrigation. He was particularly proud of his time serving in the Army Reserve. Darrell took over the running of Robert Byram and Son’s in the early 1970’s, which was his favorite and preferred job. Dad was a farmer, a sheep man, a businessman, and taught each of his children that animals were fed and taken care of before you. We also learned the value of hard work. We all have memories of fixing fences as well as herding sheep and cows. In early years we kept pigs and rabbits along with horses and dogs which were tools of a shepherd. He served in the Utah Wool Growers Association as a director for several years.
