John Fred Baker Sr.
John Fred Baker Sr., 71, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He was born on April 12, 1940 to Victor George and Leona Ruth Wheeler Baker. John was raised and schooled in Ogden. After serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War, John also lived in Ely, Nevada for a few years. He returned to Ogden, which had always been his home.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved gold mining and prospecting. John enjoyed participating in the rodeo. He was a jockey for a time and loved horses. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
John is survived by his father, Victor Baker; son, John Baker Jr.; daughters, Sonya Brown, Cheerie Wilson and Naomia Burgette; sister, Myrna Shult and brothers, George and Jerry Baker..
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
