Joe A. Valdez
Joe Andy Valdez passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 in Ogden, Utah in the early morning hours. He was born to John and Vicenta Apolaca Valdez on February 18, 1929 in Red River, New Mexico. He lived in New Mexico until the age of 14. At that time he moved to Fruita, Colorado until the age of 17, when he moved to Utah. He has lived in Dragerton, Helper, Brigham City and finally Ogden, Utah where he lived until his death.
Joe married the love of his life, Viola Vigil on March 18, 1945 in Dragerton. He enjoyed attending the Assembly of God Church.
He worked as a jet engine mechanic at Hill Air Force Base and was promoted to foreman before he retired. After retirement Joe and Viola enjoyed traveling as snowbirds, particularly to Yuma, Arizona. They often camped together and were truly in love with one another. Joe loved outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses. He will be remembered for always working hard and for his easy smile.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Viola; sons, Jonnie of Willard and Terry Valdez of Clearfield; daughters, Esther Kamhoot, Ogden and Dorthy Coplits, Weatherford, TX; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Cora Uliberri and Ruth Velarde.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Joe Adonise Valdez.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
