Jody Millikan Allsop
November 10, 1972 ~ May 13, 2021
Jody Millikan Allsop, age 48, passed away with her husband by her side Thursday, May 13, 2021, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born November 10, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas, to Gloria “Dale” and Cecil Ray Millikan. They moved to Utah when she was very young. In 1991, she graduated from Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, then quickly jumped into the workforce where she met the love of her life Brandon Allsop and life-long friend Kelli Ann Morgan.
Brandon and Jody were married on August 12, 1995. After the birth of their first child, Milee, they moved to Washington state where they lived for the remainder of Jody’s life. While in Washington they were blessed with four more beautiful children: Tanner, Cailyn, Ciera, and Brenna. From the time she was a little girl all Jody ever wanted to be was a mom, and she excelled in her devotion to her children. Her family was her world. When Jody was diagnosed in 2018, she began a fight for her life primarily motivated by her amazing children and adoring husband.
Jody was a smart, caring, and loving individual who always did her best to support the ones she loved. She spent hundreds of hours volunteering at the local schools where her children attended because she wanted to show her love and support to them as well as show her deep appreciation for the hard work their teachers put forward—even helping those teachers who no longer had her children in their classes. Every field trip, class party, birthday, or any other opportunity parents were given, Jody showed up for each of her five children. While being a mom was what she loved most, she was just as excited to become a grandma, and in 2019 she was able to meet her grandson Atticus. She was an amazing grandma and Atticus, along with all her future grandchildren, would have been lucky to have had her in their lives.
Jody loved all things crafty. Scrapbooking was her favorite and the one she spent the most time on—including going on girls’ trips with her daughters, mother, and sister to scrapbooking conventions. Outside of the crafting world, Jody had many passions in her life and constantly discovered new things she enjoyed. When she found something, she loved to do, she would spend a lot of time learning and improving until she could do it perfectly. Jody also loved to read and because she would finish books very quickly, they were a common gift for her—along with anything dolphin related. She adored dolphins.
Jody enjoyed spending time outdoors—as long as there was no rain. One of her biggest complaints about living in Washington was that it rained too much. As soon as the warmer weather hit, you would very rarely find her inside. Instead, she would be outside working on her yard. While Jody spent the majority of her life in Washington, Utah was always home to her, and every time she would pass the ‘Welcome to Utah’ sign at the border, she would always say, “We are home.” And as we say goodbye for now, she will be laid to rest at “home” in Northern Utah, where moss will never grow on her headstone and the sun will always shine on her.
Jody was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Millikan, Sr.; her father-in-law, Reed Allsop; her mother-in-law, Diane Allsop; and brother-in-law, Benjamin Allsop. She is survived by her husband, Brandon; her children, Milee (George) Walkredge, Tanner Allsop, Cailyn Allsop, Ciera Allsop, and Brenna Allsop; her mother, Gloria “Dale” Millikan; her siblings, Jenny (John) Benson and Cecil “Kip” (Anna) Millikan, Jr.; her siblings-in-law, Daniel (Shannon) Allsop, Lisa (Jimmy Shelley) Allsop-James, Stephanie (Thomas) Hatrick, Meagan (Dwaine Still) Allsop; her step-siblings-in-law, Angie (James) Evans, Amy Pierce, Michael (CJ) Fairchild, Daniel (Stacey) Fairchild, Cameron (Elizabeth) Fairchild, Teresa (Mike Ellis) Fairchild; her grandson Atticus Walkredge, as well as countless other extended family members.
