Jocelyn Kaye Palmer Stoker

March 6, 1945 — January 12, 2025

Jocelyn Kaye Palmer Stoker, our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, progressed to the next chapter in life on Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by a loving family. She was 79 years old.

Jocelyn was born the second of seven children on March 6, 1945, in Winslow Arizona, to J. Duffy Palmer and Jocelyn Jensen. Jocelyn attended Wasatch Elementary in Clearfield Utah, then North Davis Jr. High where she learned to play the piano, as well as the cornet but only because it was the only other instrument her family owned at the time. She met her future husband, Don Stahle Stoker while attending North Davis Jr. High and dated him throughout high school. Jocelyn was in the first graduating class of Clearfield High School.

After graduation she attended Brigham Young University while the love of her life, Don, served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Don and Jocelyn were married August 6, 1965, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with seven beautiful children, 28 grandchildren, and 4 (soon-to-be 6) great-grandchildren.

Jocelyn had a great love for her Father in Heaven and our Savior, Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in the church, mostly working with the youth. Because of this love for the children and youth she had several jobs in various schools including a preschool, elementary school, and a Jr. High school.

Don and Jocelyn lived in many places throughout the country: Utah, California, Florida, Louisiana, and, upon Don’s retirement, Arizona where they helped to take care of her mother. They eventually built a home in Mendon, Utah where they spent the summers but could never resist returning to Mesa for the long winters.

To know Jocelyn is to know that whether the spice was in the kitchen, cooking her favorite eye-watering enchiladas, or pulling pranks with the young women of the Church she was full of fun and laughter. Of all the things Jocelyn accomplished in her life she always counted her children as the greatest. Often the loudest in the stands of the children’s athletic endeavors, Jocelyn was their #1 fan.

Jocelyn is survived by her loving husband, Don; children, Kenneth (Julie) WA, Janine (Layne) Barker UT, Alecia UT, Todd UT, Ethan (Brandy) VA, Aaron (Emily) UT, Karen (Joshua) Day AZ; 28 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 5 siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 2679 South 1000 West in Syracuse, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
