Joanne McCallum Whitesides

Joanne McCallum Whitesides, 65, of Layton, Utah, passed away on November 1, 2023.  She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 21, 1957 to Tommy and Maxine McCallum. Joanne was a beloved Mother, Wife and Grandmother who loved her puppy Helion, her service dog Debaisi and her family more than anything. She loved her home, planting flowers and creating beautiful projects in her yard.

Joanne is survived by her Son William Scott Bauer whom she lovingly referred to as Bilbo, her husband William M. Whitesides, stepsons William Jr,  Daniel and Caleb, stepdaughter Sunny, her twin brother James, brother Wayne (Teri), sisters Judy (Tim) Blackner, Christine Chambers, and her beloved sister Bobbie Green. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her very much.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Allen.

The Dustin Draper family were some of her favorite family members and she was so proud to be a part of their Havoc K9 organization. She trained and raised K9 Halsey who graduated and worked with the Draper Police Department for many years.  Joanne helped everyone and anyone she could and was one of the most selfless human beings you would ever meet, never turning down an opportunity to help her fellow people. She loved music and listening to her husband Bill perform. She was a big fan of The Used, her stepson Daniel's band, and you would often hear her blasting their music as loud as she could, singing along while working on her gardening. She loved and was so proud of her Son Billy's glass blowing company, Archetype Pendants, and supported him in every way to help him build it.  She owned many pieces and always wore at least one of the beautiful creations Billy lovingly made for her.

A celebration of life will be held at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, Layton Utah on November 11, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm.
