Joanne Jackson

February 22, 1945 — May 3, 2025

Joanne Jackson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at her home due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 80 years old.

Joanne was born on February 22, 1945 in South Porcupine, Ontario Canada to Robert and Helen Doran. She met her forever sweetheart (Harvey) at the age of 15 when they were introduced by the LDS missionaries. Soon, the couple fell in love and moved to Provo, Utah together to attend Brigham Young University. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business. Joanne and Harvey were married and sealed together for eternity, and moved to Tucson, Arizona. Five years later, they decided to move up to Utah to be with family and raise their two children (Christine and Robert). Joanne and Harvey raised their family primarily in South Jordan, Utah and made life-long friends in that neighborhood.

Joanne and Harv moved back to Tucson and then again back to Utah a few times. Throughout all this, Joanne worked diligently to give the best life she could to her children and grandchildren. She was always ready to help at a moment's notice. Joanne converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints back when she was a young teenager and lived a life of service, dedication, and love. She served in several Young Women and Relief Society presidencies and as the YW Girls Camp Director and Counselor many times (which she especially loved).

Joanne was a hard worker and was always busy doing something. She loved to be involved with others and had many friends in her life. She had a knack for crafty work and loved to play the piano when she was younger. Her organizational skills were second to none. She was the Office Manager for a dental office and later went back to school when her children were ages 12 and 8 for her nursing degree. She loved to be of help to anyone, at any time.

Harvey and Joanne served two missions for the LDS church together (Heber Valley Girls Camp and the Addiction Recovery Program). Through all of Joanne’s service, she built her testimony of the gospel by reaching out and caring for others.

After battling Alzheimer’s for the past 5 ½ years, Joanne is finally free of her earthly cares and home. Her reunion with her parents was surely a sweet one! The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the IHC Hospice Care Team (especially Kristy), whose support and care over the last two months brought comfort to Joanne and her loved ones during her final days.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harvey Jackson; daughter, Christine Anderson (Scott); son, Robert Jackson (Natalie); 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
