It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JoAnn Nyman Hendry, beloved wife, Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. JoAnn peacefully departed this life on December 19, 2025, in Clearfield, Utah, at the age of 94.
Born on November 29, 1931, in Logan, Utah, to Ross and Olis Godfey Nyman, JoAnn was the third of four siblings: Ross Odell Nyman, Nola Gae Blanchard, and Jerry Andrew Nyman. She graduated from Logan High School in 1950. On December 2, 1950, JoAnn married Dee W. Hendry in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS temple in St. George, Utah. Dee passed away on August 20, 1996.
Together, JoAnn and Dee made their homes in Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Southern California. JoAnn also spent time in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, before settling back in Northern Utah. She sold Tupperware and Avon, worked as a flag woman during road construction, but her primary career was with the United States Postal Service, where she proudly retired.
JoAnn was known for her sharp wit, memorable phrases, warm welcomes, and ever-ready pot of coffee. She was an avid teacher of card games to her grandchildren, an enthusiastic slot player, and the most treasured mom, grams and great grandma anyone could know. JoAnn was truly one of a kind!
She is survived by her five children: Dan (Mary), DeeAnn (Jimmy), Peggy, Rock (Laurie), and Tracy; her 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. JoAnn was preceded in death by her father Ross, mother Olis, husband Dee, and sister Gae.
A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Graveside services at West Point Cemetery with a lunch to follow.
