JoAnn Barnett Hale Beloved Mother, Sister & Grandma Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 25th, 2025.
She was born in Ogden, Utah to Clarence Barnett and Henrietta Bell Barnett. Raised in Ogden, Utah, with her two brothers, Jay Barnett & Terry Barnett. She graduated from Ogden High School.
She met the love of her life, Melvin Hale, just before her graduation. He was in the Air Force and was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. Once he was discharged, they were married on Sept. 15, 1954. They were later sealed to each other in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they set up home in Ogden Ut. but eventually settled in Roy, Utah where they raised three children. Debra Hale, Melvin Rand Hale, and Cory Dean Hale.
She spent the majority of her career as a Federal employee with Hill Air Force Base and the Defense Depot in Ogden, Ut. Always an overachiever, she worked her way from Clerk to Senior Computer Programmer, rising to the Government employee grade of GS-11 before retiring after 25 years of service.
She took great pride in her family and how it had grown over the years. Besides her three children, she had 7 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. She always said she was so lucky that they turned out to be such good people.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Melvin E. Hale, two children Debra Harris and Melvin Rand Hale, also a brother Terry Barnett. She is survived by her brother Jay Barnett, a son Cory Hale, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden.
