Mrs. Gerald A. Smith, a retired Las Vegas business owner died April 17, 2007 in Henderson, Nevada. She was surrounded by her family.

Born February 25, 1931, Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was married to Gerald A. Smith on February 20, 1948 in Ogden, Utah. They were sealed eternally on August 7, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. As a member of the LDS church, she served in the young women''s program, relief society and many years as compassionate service leader.

Joan and Gerald opened Joan''s Bra-tique in Las Vegas in 1970. Together they served their customers for over 20 years. During this time, they opened a second Bra-tique in Ogden, Utah and two AdventureLand video stores in Southern Nevada. Joan loved to serve her customers and developed many wonderful friendships while in business.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brent G. Smith, and her grandson, Gregory Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Gerald; son Kim (Valerie) Smith of Henderson; son Levi (Malinee) Smith of Deer Park, Washington; daughter-in-law and widow Connie (Merlin) Jolley of Koosharem, Utah; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Monday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
