Joan Carver Facer

Ogden - Joan Carver Facer passed away on December 12, 2015, surrounded by her family.  She was born on September 28, 1931, in Ogden, the daughter of Elmer and Jane Carver and was the youngest of their four children.  She was raised in Plain City, Utah and attended Plain City Elementary and Plain City Junior High School.  Joan graduated from Weber High School in 1949.

She married LaMar Chase Facer and they later divorced.

Joan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Plain City 2nd Ward and served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for 10 years.

She raised her family in Plain City, a town she dearly loved.  Joan served on the Plain City Council from 1994 to 1999.  She also worked for the Weber County School District from 1966 to 1993.  While working at Plain City Elementary, Joan held many positions including Teacher’s Aide, Title 1 Aide, Community School Director, but her favorite position was being a librarian because she loved to read stories to the children.  In 1979, Joan moved to the newly built Country View Elementary School and took on the job as Head Custodian, retiring in 1993.

She is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Joan is survived by her children, Russell (Julie) Facer, DeAnn (Mark) Weese, Shanna (Joel) Stockseth, and Loren (Carolyn) Facer; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Norman (LuJean) Carver, Ruth (Kenneth) DeVries and Wayne (Marilyn) Carver.

The family would like to thank the staff of Manor Care for the wonderful care they provided her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 2952 North 4200 West.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Plain City Cemetery, 1975 North 4425 West.
