Jim William Jenkins

Jim William Jenkins, age 61, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 26, 2024, in his home in Layton, Utah. Jim was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 25, 1963, to Elwood and Corrine (Kendall) Jenkins. He spent his childhood in Nephi, and settled in Layton, Utah.

Jim was employed at Hill Air Force Base, as a packaging specialist. His life was filled with a multitude of hobbies and interests. As a devoted sports fan, he cherished his teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and the Utah Jazz. He found joy in activities such as spending time with his grandchildren, camping, volleyball, chess, and playing poker. 

He was part of the Hearing Impaired Community, where he met and fell in love with Valerie Von Elm and her two sons. He went on to marry her two years later on June 16, 1984, in Taylorsville, Utah, and they had two additional children. They devoted their life, love, and time together for the remainder of his life here on earth and on to eternity. 
 
Jim will be dearly missed by his loving wife Valerie Jenkins, his children Paul (Candace) Peterson, Preston (Beesh) Peterson, Jarvis (Jamillah) Jenkins, Ashlee (Christopher) Campbell, as well as his eight grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Wayne (Kathy) Jenkins, Joanne (Tracy) Booth, Sharie (Stan) Mikesell, Brad (Mary Ann) Jenkins, Lyle (Annette) Jenkins and was preceded in death by his parents Elwood and Corrine Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends and family may visit Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
