Jewell Colleen Leroy age 75 passed away April 29, 2024 in Layton, Utah. She was born November 18, 1948 in salt Lake City, Utah to Elmo D. and Jewell Marx Colton. She married Duane Oldham on May 4, 1972. They were later divorced on April 16, 1975. She met and married David M. LeRoy on September 15, 1975.
She was affiliated with the Community of Christ Church. She loved the Lord, her Savior and the Great Spirit.
Colleen was not just a mother who sat on the sidelines while raising her daughter Spring; she was a constant advocate for her in and out of school. Many times she met with her daughter’s school teachers and school board to ensure they understood Spring’s communication needs due to her hearing loss. Although many of her conversations did little to help in her daughter’s earlier years, Colleen’s tears and agonizing over this ongoing problem with her daughter did not go unnoticed. She did not want her daughter’s hearing loss to define her life, but she indeed wanted her daughter to live a meaningful and well balanced life. Collen’s prayers were answered as her daughter finally received the help she needed in her High School years.
Jewell loved collecting rocks and gemstones. She was into Native American and Spiritual healing. Her biggest love is her friends, family, and neighbors. If anyone was in pain or dealing with things in life, she would call anyone and do a prayer chain for that person in need.
She loved to tell stories about her family and teaching people of things she learned over the years, she shared her knowledge with everyone. She was always willing to help those in need of anything, especially being the biggest supporter of her grandson with this Tie Dye business. She was always willing to donate to the Carmelites and the Community of Christ.
Colleen had a very special love for all of her companion dogs, Princess, Angel Feather, Miracle and Merci.
She never let her disability get her down, she was small but spicy.
She is survived by her daughter Spring (Ray), grandson Duane, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews as well as a few great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David LeRoy, her mother and father Jewell and Elmo Colton, her siblings Sandra LeRoy, Wayne Colton and Linda Emms.
