Jewel Vivian Larsen Avondet Wentworth
I, Jewel Vivian Larsen Avondet Wentworth, left this world peacefully on September 23, 2012, after a very long battle with Alzheimer''s. I was born on July 24, 1928, to John and Clara Larsen in North Ogden, Utah. I was the youngest of 12 children. I graduated from Weber High School in 1946 and later attended Weber State College to obtain a nationally certified operating room technician degree. I worked for St. Benedict''s Hospital and Ogden Clinic for several years.
On July 30, 1946, I married Earnest Charles Avondet and we were later divorced. I then married Earl Wentworth on April 12, 1980 and this union was later solemnized in the Los Angeles California LDS Temple.
I was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings throughout my life. I served three missions, two in San Diego, and one in Scotland with my husband, Earl. I also served as a temple ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple for many years.
I was blessed with three sons and two daughters, Gerald (Louise) Avondet of Farr West, Utah; Richard "Dick" (Julie) Avondet of Clearfield, Utah; Paul (Chris) Avondet of Sunset, UT; JoAn (James) Steele of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Vivian Avondet (grandson, Anthony Charles Willden) of Ogden, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
I was preceded in death by my husband, Earl; 11 brothers and sisters, one daughter-in-law, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
