FARR WEST‒Jeralyn “Jaye” Kay Jersem, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Jaye was born April 24, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was raised in La Grande, Oregon and moved to Ogden, Utah shortly after completing school.
On July 10, 1969, she married Larry Jersem in Reno, Nevada, and raised three daughters in Hooper, Utah.
After many years of dedication and service she retired from the Davis County Jail where she worked as a corrections officer.
Gram was an unwavering source of love and support. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a sporting event, school program or special occasion. She was always present and had a special bond with each and every grandchild. She deeply loved and enjoyed her family, spending time with them playing Yahtzee, poker, fishing, camping, bowling, coloring, visiting national parks or just talking. She just wanted to be near and with them. She shared many special moments that will remain treasured memories we will always hold in our hearts. Mom was incredibly resilient and the world’s most beautiful and amazing matriarch. She easily made friends everywhere she went and valued her friendships. Jaye was a loyal, considerate, and caring friend who will be deeply missed. Mom truly lived in the moment and cherished every aspect of life. She had many hobbies too many to list, however she was addicted to bingo and fishing.
She was a compassionate woman that cheered for the Packers and the Dodgers. Her joyful spirit, passion, enthusiasm, knowledge, incredible cooking skills, hugs, laughter, and love will always and forever remain in our hearts and souls. If given a choose we would choose her as a mom, gram, and friend every time.
Surviving are her three daughters, Dawna (Alan) Palfreyman, Jeri Mastronardi, Rebecca (Scott) Peterson; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Bart (Chris) Smith and Curt (Laurie) Fulton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; one infant son; and her sister, LaRee.
Special thanks and appreciation to her many friends at bingo and Tennelle for aways making her feel and look her best.
Valediction:
Our shopping outings to BDO, Ross, Walmart, JCPenney, making stops at Burger King to fill our bellies with a whopper, fries, and a soda. The Moab, Yellowstone, Bear World, Idaho road trips to get lotto tickets and chicken strips. Monday, Thursday, and Saturday bowling adventures! Every minute of it was all so amazing! Thank you for all the laughs and always being there! Trissy
I love you more! Lex
Gram, I know you will always be there and when it comes to bowling, I know I will get that extra special nudge from you to continue bowling 300 games! Brandon
