Jeanne Braegger Ballif

1929-2023

Jeanne Braegger Ballif, 94, died September 18, 2023 in Logan, Utah.  She was born on July1, 1929 at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Pearl Denning and Frank Abraham Braegger.  She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School.  Jeanne met her eternal companion, Bruce, while attending Weber College and then graduated from BYU with a degree in education and began her first teaching career at Lorin Farr Elementary.  Jeanne married Bruce Berrett Ballif on November 21, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.  During their marriage they traveled extensively, and she taught in many schools around the country.

While Bruce served in the Air Force, the Ballifs lived in Georgia, Oklahoma, California, Turkey, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virgina.  They had one daughter Suzanne (Suzie) who was born while they were in Oklahoma.  Following retirement they served two back-to-back LDS missions in Sydney, Australia and then retired in Logan, Utah and continued serving with the North America area presidencies at the church offices in Salt Lake.

In addition to her love for travel and the friendships acquired, Jeanne treasured the many pets that she collected over the years.  She loved working in her yard and shoveling the snow.

Jeanne served faithfully in many callings in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society.  She had a special love for Genealogy and temple work and dedicated countless hours to that throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughter Suzie, brothers-in-law Neil B. Ballif, Arthur B. Ballif (Karen), and step brother Dennis Love.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Bruce of 65 years, her parents, stepmother Rachel Love Braegger, three step brothers, Claude, Howard and Lowell and a sister-in-law Sharon Berrett Ballif.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10 – 11:30 am at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 1260 N. 1600 E.

Logan, Utah.  Gravesides services will be conducted at the Ogden City Cemetery at 1:00 pm
