Jared was born to Gary Jensen and Michelle Jensen on June 27, 1989. Jared attended schools in both Davis and Uintah County, where he enjoyed the marching band and swim team. Jared was a Sterling Scholar. He graduated from Uintah High School in 2007. Afterwards, he attended UVU for a short period of time before going on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Cape Town, South Africa Mission. Jared loved his mission and the people there. He made many lasting friendships.
After Jared’s mission, he had a companion call him up to ask if he would be willing to go on a blind group date last minute because a girl in the group’s date didn’t show. That’s how Jared met his “desert flower”. The rest was history for Jared and Camille. They were married in the Salt Lake City temple July 29, 2011. Family was everything to Jared. Years later, Jared and Camille welcomed Greyson and Oakley. Jared loved being a Daddy to his best little buddy and princess. He took that role very seriously. From every ultrasound appointment, parent teacher conference, recitals, and 1-1 dates with the kids and planning activities that interested each of them, he showed up. Any day with his family was a day well spent. Jared was a protector.
Jared was passionate about many things, including hobbies and education. He loved fishing, camping, being outdoors, woodworking with his dad, cooking, and gift giving. Jared was the most thoughtful gift giver you’d ever meet. Jared was also very passionate about his job, serving others, and making a difference in the community. He was a police officer in Sunset, Clinton, and Sergeant with Kaysville Police Department. Jared worked various assignments, but his two favorites were with his K9 Vos for a few years and then with the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team. Jared worked with Representative Judy Rohner to document data and create H.B. 246 Board of Pardons and Parole Amendments to closely monitor recidivism rates for violent repeat offenders that passed and was effective in Legislation in 2023. He loved those whom he worked with past and present. Jared loved the University of Utah football team. Jared was also passionate about education. He graduated from Weber State University with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and a Masters’s in Public Safety Leadership and Administration from Arizona State University. His master’s thesis was Mental Health in Law Enforcement, and he was a big advocate for that. Jared had a deep desire to help people and make the world a better place.
Jared had a hard and courageous battle fighting Glioblastoma and suffered many complications related to the disease. Just like the special and unique person he was, so was his case. He fought hard and kept pressing forward, despite so many setbacks. He set his sight on his little family and fought diligently until the end. We are grateful for all of those that cared for Jared and advocated for him, including the U of U Neurosurgery and Neurooncology teams, Palliative Care, the nursing staff at both Huntsman’s and U of U’s NCC and NAC teams, as well as his Hospice team.
Jared is survived by his wife, Camille; children, Greyson and Oakley; parents, Gary (Shari) Jensen and Michelle Jensen; Mother and Father-in-law, Eric and Melanie Moore; Grandma Jensen, Grandma and Grandpa Jones, Grandpa and Grandma Mecham; siblings Jordan (Carly), Josh, Bailey (Heston), Jayce; in laws, Makenzie (Adam), Kaitlyn (Easton), Heather (Kobyn), and Meliah (Ty); and 10 nieces and nephews. Jared is proceeded in death by his Grandpa Jensen, whom he is named after, Grandpa and Grandma Moore, as well as Jared and Camille’s angel babies.
We love you, Jared. We are grateful for the miracles and tender mercies we received and for the knowledge that families are eternal; that this life isn’t the end. Hold tight to your babies in Heaven. Until we meet again.
