Janna Dean Hansen

August 5, 1941 — June 10, 2023

Our beloved Janna, wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, friend, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the age of 81.

Janna was born August 5, 1941 in Aurora, Utah, a daughter of Hyrum and Della Ernstsen. Her family later moved to Salt Lake where she attended high school and worked in a candy shop as her first job.

She was introduced to her husband, Lanny Hansen, through a friend that thought they would be happy together and happy they were. They were married on February 8, 1969 in Nevada and then bought a home in Washington Terrace, Utah where they lived and raised their family. They were members of the Washington Terrace LDS 5th Ward.

Janna loved her family dearly and her home was always the center of celebrations and gatherings. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She created so many cherished memories of Easter egg hunts and playing baseball in the yard, Christmas and birthday parties, and having all the grandkids come for a sleepover. She enjoyed cooking and making treats for her family and always had the good cereals. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports and attended every game possible.

Janna had a daycare in her home for over 40 years where she watched many children in the community, along with her grandkids and some great-grandkids.

She instilled in us the importance of family and will be extremely missed as our matriarch.

We were so lucky to have you, Grandma. Thank you for leaving your legacy of love and teaching us how to make the best sugar cookies in the world.

Janna is survived by three sons, Brent Hansen, Kent (Sue) Hansen, and Christopher (Gilda) Hansen; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lanny; an infant daughter, Samantha; and her daughter, Camille; her parents, Hyrum and Della; and her siblings, Afton, Terral and Foy.
