Janina "Jennie" Kowalow Green
KAYSVILLE a" Janina "Jennie" Kowalow Green, 91, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012.
She was born on July 10, 1920 in Horodenka, Poland the daughter of Stanislaw and Hattie McGillivray Kowalow. She served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II.
Jennie married Woodrow E. Green on August 5, 1947 in Winnemucca, Nevada. They were later divorced.
Jennie was a convert to the LDS Church and was a temple worker.
She was a volunteer at Lakeview Hospital for nine years. Jennie loved animals and frequently took in strays. She was an exceptional gardener, great cook and loved canning her harvest. Jennie loved music and she played the accordion. She enjoyed square dancing.
Surviving are her two sons, Woodrow D. (Nancy) Green, Layton; Scott H. (Galynn) Green, Layton; daughter, Janina L. Walker, Hooper; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and niece Donna Hardstaff.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Mark and son-in-law, Wayne Walker.
The family would like to thank Apple Village for their many years of kindness, care and support. The family also thanks Marie Green, (granddaughter) for her love and care as her hospice nurse.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
