Janet Lou Heitz Widdison (Jan) was born in Chicago, Illinois, January 22, 1943, to William Heitz and Lucille Pavela. She passed away peacefully at her home in Hooper, May 4, 2025.
Mom grew up in Illinois. Her family moved to different states and her junior year of high school they moved to Utah. She attended Ogden High and during her senior year she went on a blind date and met the love of her life and eternal companion, Dale Widdison. They were married February 17, 1961, and moved to Illinois and then to California. After living in California for several years, they decided to move back to Utah to raise their family.
Mom was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints January 14, 1962, and was a faithful member throughout her life. She served in several organizations in the church and served a service mission, with Dad, in Ogden.
Their family was sealed in the Los Angeles, California temple January 24, 1970.
Mom and Dad enjoyed many years traveling on motorcycles with their friends and RV trips with Dad’s brothers and their wives. They traveled to most of the states.
Mom enjoyed bowling, camping, ceramics, quilting and making chocolates, at Christmastime, for friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael, her father and step-mother, Marie, who helped raise her. Her mother, her brother Billie and his wife, Charlotte, her sisters Carol Gorman and Debbie Hamenka.
She is survived by her loving husband and their 6 children: Pat (Ronald) Leavitt, Will (Lori), Beckie (Larry) Dugger, Carol (Richard) Leishman, Craig (Monica) and Lisa (Eric) Child. Her sisters, Sue (Jim) Steveson and Karen (Matt) Bowler, her 25 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren with 1 on the way. She is also survived by countless in-laws and nieces and nephews whom she adores.
Mom read her scriptures daily and was Christlike in her service to her friends, neighbors and family. She will be greatly missed.
Mom had a big voice and a heart and personality to match it.
We would like to give a special thanks to Mom’s hospice nurse, Jamie, who was so kind and compassionate and helped Mom these last few months.
