Janet Johns Saunders

February 11, 1936 — November 3, 2024

Roy

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was called back to our Heavenly Father on November 3, 2024. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born in North Ogden, Utah on February 11,1936 to William Thomas and Celia Brown Johns. She was the baby of the family, the younger of identical twin girls. She and her twin sister, Joyce, shared an inseparable bond throughout their life.

Mom grew up in North Ogden and graduated from Weber High School. She continued her studies at Weber State College.

Janet married the love of her life, Wendell Vernon Saunders, in the Logan LDS temple on May 9th, 1963. They lived in Willard and Ogden before settling in Roy where they raised their family. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sunday School and in the Relief Society. Mom and Dad served together as stake missionaries and later as full-time missionaries in the Alabama Birmingham Mission. She served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple alongside her husband. She met her goal of serving in the temple for 20 years. She hosted Family Home Evening in her home for the widows of the ward for many years.

She volunteered as a reading tutor at North Park Elementary School for several years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano and doing family history. She made many quilts, tablecloths and afghans for her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, parents and siblings, Maurine Garner, Wilma Garner, William Vernal Johns, Theo Mathie, Donna Cannon, Ranae Johns, and her twin sister Joyce Elmer.

Mom leaves behind her loving family: Jan (Donald) Grow, Clinton; Marne' (Randy) Bowden, Roy; Ranel (Gary) Cox, Syracuse, Val (Colleen) Saunders, West Haven; and Shelly (Jason) Gallini, Round Rock, TX. Janet's legacy continues through her 20 grandchildren, Kodi, Kelsee, Jed and Jacie Grow; Slade, Tia, Tucker and Amanda Bowden; Bryce, Jordan, Corbyn, and Kaylee Cox, Tayler, Hunter, Carly, and Braxton Saunders; Carsten, Abrielle, Alyssa, and Greyson Gallini, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S, Roy, UT on Friday, November 8th from 6-8 PM and Saturday, November 9th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Roy North Stake Center, 4250 S. 2175 W. Funeral services will follow.
