James Edward Denney "Ed", a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather peacefully passed away on February 6, 2026, at his home in Fruit Heights, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. Born on March 9, 1936, in Qualls, Oklahoma, the son of Marshall Denny and Della Verna Holbrook. Ed was a man who embraced life and positively impacted those who knew and loved him.

A proud military man, Ed honorably served his country for 20-years as a soldier in the United States Army. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His service encompassed specialties ranging from Paratrooper to Computer Programmer.  After his military service, he began a 27-year career as a commercial printing systems technician with Xerox Corporation. He set the standard for earned respect, integrity, and work ethic.

Ed found his greatest joys in spending time with family. Together they traveled the world, enjoyed various activities including camping, antique automobile restoration, motorcycle and UTV riding, boating, jet skiing, walking, and riding his horses. He loved watching sports and was a fan of Utah Utes football and the NFL.

Ed was most proud of his 65-year marriage to his "Schotzie" Katharina Hannelore whom he referred to as Katie. They were wed on July 1, 1960, in Wiesbaden, Germany. He always teased that Katie enticed him with chocolate bars through the military compound fence at Camp Perry where he was stationed.

Survived by his wife, Katharina; sons, Thomas Michael Denney of Delta, PA; James Edward Denney Jr. (Kellie) of South Jordan, UT; and Michael Allen Denney of Truth or Consequences, NM; brother, Marshall Adam (Lynn) Denney; and his faithful little companion, Kookie.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karin Denney; mother, Della Cota; stepfather, Ramon Cota; father, Marshall Denny; sisters, Nadine Hays, Jean Wade, and Betty Odin; as well as daughters-in-law, Sheryl Kaye Denney and Dawn Michelle Reilly. Ed was a special uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. His memory will continue to resonate with all who knew him, as they celebrate a life filled with devotion to family, faith, and adventure.
