James Patrick Clemens, 94, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. He was born on August 18, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts.
James graduated from Everett High School in Massachusetts and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to public service as a police officer and was actively associated with the Ogden Police Benefit Association.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James served in numerous callings throughout his life, including bishop, member of a stake presidency, Sunday School teacher, and Ogden Temple worker. His devotion to his faith and community was evident in all he did.
James had a deep love for youth and athletics, coaching Little League baseball and basketball for many years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially loyal to Boston’s professional teams.
On December 10, 1954, James married the love of his life, Mae, in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in August 1960.
James is survived by his sons, Jim (Kaye), Mike (Kathleen) and Keven (Sherrie); his daughter, Doris (Scott) Mumford; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae and son, Steve.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Park Ward, 300 Gramercy. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
