James Merrill Bybee

James Merrill Bybee, age 76, passed away at his home on Friday June 27, 2025. He was born in Ogden, Utah on January 6, 1949 to Robert Melvin and Laura Hamre Bybee. He was graduated from Bonneville High School and Weber State College.

He served in the United States Army.

James married Sherry McDonald on June 26, 1969 in Uintah, Utah.

James was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Financial Clerk for 25 years for the 2nd Ward in Uintah. He also served as a service missionary.

He was employed by Uintah City and was a crane operator at Hill Air Force Base.

James enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, skiing, and loved spending time in the outdoors. He was a member of the United Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sherry, three daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Sherilyn (Greg) Dingman, Merrill (Carolyn) Bybee, Robert (Cammy) Bybee, Melissa Harnois, Meredith Bybee, brother Lance (Cheryl) Bybee, sister Jancie Bryson and sister-in-law Sandy Bybee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Laura Bybee, sister Sharon Ward, brother-in-law Dee Ward, brother Neil Bybee and niece Cheryl Jean Bybee.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped with James’ care.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Uintah Township Cemetery, Uintah, Utah.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
