Jake Rogers

June 23, 1925 — January 4, 2024

Jake Rogers passed away on the morning of January 4, 2024 in his home in Layton, Utah,

Jake Rogers was born to Dallas and Rose Rogers on June 23, 1925 in Fillmore, Utah. He joined an older brother Ted, sister, Frances and younger sister Christine that completed the family circle.

Jake attended Fillmore Elementary where in the 5th grade he met the girl of his dreams, Carol Peterson.  

While attending Millard High School Jake lived with his grandmother Davies where he enjoyed many high school sport activities. After graduating high school in 1943 he joined the military during WWII.

After the war Jake married that girl of his dreams, Carol Peterson, on July 6, 1946 in the Peterson family home in Fillmore. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple.

Jake then attended Utah State University where he graduated in 1950.

He then joined the Air Force and served in many parts of the world, including Turkey, Thailand and Alaska. While in Turkey Jake was also the First Counselor in the District Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jakes final assignment in the Air Force was Hill Air Force Base in Utah, where he and Mac were the racquetball kings of Hill Field.

He then retired after 33 years of military service as Lieutenant Colonel. After he retired Jake and Carol started spending the winters in Arizona where Jake enjoyed playing tennis and played in many tournaments while there.

In 2002 they purchased a winter home in St. George where Jake participated in senior games for many years.

Jake loved being outdoors and enjoyed working the grounds around their home in Layton and raised a garden every year when his health permitted.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years Carol Rogers (the girl of his dreams).

Interment-Fillmore City Cemetery.
