1941 ~ 2022

Our loving and loyal husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jack George Singleton passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by his family, on August 9, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Jack was born February 21, 1941, to Jack and Grace Singleton in Ogden, Utah. He was the second youngest of many siblings. He grew up duck and bird hunting with his dad. He attended Ogden High School and met the love of his life and best friend, Patricia Ann Phelps, in 1957 later marrying her on January 20, 1960, and still flirted with her even until his last days.

Jack was a fun loving, honest and hardworking man. Throughout his life he worked many jobs starting at just 12 years old working for Louie Phillpot, then on to Commercial Security as a custodian with his parents, White City bowling as a desk clerk, Grand Central and Gibson’s as a Toy Buyer before founding Singleton Landscaping in 1965 at the young age of 24 with his sweetheart Pat. He grew and ran this company for over 35 years before retiring and selling the business to their daughter and son-in-law who still successfully run it today.

Jack’s quick wit, loyalty, honesty, thoughtfulness and charm attracted others to him in a way that created lifelong friendships. His ability to tell stories, some tall tells, will be remembered by all. Jack and Pat enjoyed snowmobiling and he belonged to the snowmobile association. He loved golfing, fishing, and bowling and once bowled a 299 where he received a ring. Anvil Draw at Flaming George was his home away from home every summer for over 30 years. Once of his greatest passions was sharing all of the tricks Hair-EEE could do. Not sure who enjoyed their daily medicine (ice cream cones) more, Hair-EEE or Jack.

Jack is survived by his wife and soulmate, Pat; their four children, Jackie (Paul) Parker, Lisa (Brent) Babbitt, Cindy (Austin) Argyle, and Susan Wilburn; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his two grandsons, Shane J.C. Argyle and Kyle Austin Argyle; a great-granddaughter, Aumbrionna Eastvold and his faithful furry companion Hair-EEE.

We will be celebrating Jack’s life on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
