Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and physician, Ivin Laurence Gee M.D. passed away on March 29, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on June 18, 1934, in Provo, Utah to Pearl Stucki and Ivin Lafayette Gee.

Laurence spent most of his early years in Denver, Colorado and later, Lander, Wyoming. He graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1952. He went on to study at Weber College, graduating cum laude in 1954. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the East German Mission from 1954 to 1957. He then resumed his education at Brigham Young University where he met his eternal companion, Alice Virginia Clark. Laurence and Alice were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 8, 1958. They began a lifelong journey together as Laurence entered medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

He practiced medicine in Lander specializing in pediatrics but also covering general practice and obstetrics. He was drafted into the United States Navy and served at the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California. He served there for two years, leaving with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, then returned to his practice in Lander for the next 28 years.

Dr. Gee is remembered for his kind and caring bedside manner, his dedication to his patients, his cool head in a crisis, his excellent medical care, humming while he worked, and giving out a dum-dum lollipop with each visit.

Among his many accomplishments and associations he was on the Board of Directors of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wyoming from 1974 – 1985, and chairman of the board from 1977 – 1978. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics starting in 1972, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1973. A member of the Fremont County Medical Society and Wyoming State Medical Society from 1965 – 1997. President and Founding Member of the Wyoming Pediatric Society from 1977 – 1983. Chief of staff of Bishop Randall Hospital in Lander from 1968 – 1986 and again from 1990 – 1996. And Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics for the University of Wyoming from 1980 – 1987. He sold his medical practice in 1996.

He spent his life in the service of others. From 1997–2000 and 2001-2003 Laurence and Alice twice served as the East European Area Physician for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Frankfurt, Germany and Moscow, Russia. They then relocated from Lander to North Salt Lake, Utah, where he also served on medical committees for the Missionary Department for the Church.

He was a stalwart member of the Church and in addition to serving three missions held many callings including Sunday School teacher, Seminary teacher, Adult Aaronic Priesthood Advisor, Stake High Councilor, Stake President, Welfare Coordinator, Temple Worker, Family History Consultant, and Counselor in the Bishopric.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Alice, his parents, younger brothers, Martell and Glendon, younger sister, Ellen Ann. He is survived by his younger sister, Rosemary Wall (Steve), and his eight children: Clark Gee (Melanie), Mary Ellen Marshall (Steve), Juliana Dixon, John Gee (Kathleen), Rachel Gray (Steve), Aaron Gee (Sandra), Joseph Gee (Erin), and Philip Gee (Jennie).

A public viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 10, 2026, at Lindquist Mortuary 727 N 400 E, Bountiful, UT. On April 11, 2026, a viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 351 Lofty Lane, North Salt Lake, UT. Following the funeral a graveside service with full military honors provided by the US Navy honor guard will take place in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
