Irvin Call Laws

March 30, 1931 — December 6, 2024

Irvin Call Laws 1931-2024

In loving memory of a beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Irvin Laws died on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 93. Irvin was born on March 30, 1931, in Malad, Idaho to Joseph and Effie Laws. He was married to his wife of 70 years, Thelda Laws, in the Logan temple on June 15, 1953.

Irvin is survived in death by his five daughters: Sharon (Russell) Petersen, Janet (Roger) Dube’, Nancy (Quentin) Seegmiller, Nadene (Dave) Brown, and Shawna (Traci) Kalian-Laws, twelve Grandchildren and thirty-six Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his only son Chris and three Grandchildren.

When Irvin was 20 years old, his experience of working on farm equipment engines landed him a job as an airplane mechanic at Hill Airforce Base, and he ended his 39-year career on the flight line as head mechanic of an F-4. He was very happy when his assigned F-4 was retired to the Hill Airforce Base Airplane Museum. After deciding that retirement was too slow for his taste, he decided to continue working, and found a second career as a bus driver for Davis County School district. He really enjoyed driving “his kids” to school and games, but after nine years, losing an eye to melanoma cancer forced him to enter retirement a second time.

Irvin served faithfully in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, enjoying being able to serve others throughout his years. He served a stake mission for two years.

Irvin was a funny, kind, and hardworking man who really loved spending time with his family and friends. Having five daughters led Irvin into being a very good girl dad known for being a good listener. He had a great sense of humor, and his laugh was contagious. He was known as the guy that could fix almost anything, and shared his knowledge, tools, and time helping others figure out problems. He loved camping and riding motorcycles and was great at telling stories around the campfire. He always had a healthy and productive backyard vegetable garden filled with tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn.

The Laws Family would like to thank Chancellor Gardens, Memory Care Unit employees along with the Hospice Nurses that were kind, patient and caring during his stay.
