Iris Marcene Adams Haacke Beck

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away March 12, 2012 due to causes incident to age.

Marcene was born on August 3, 1927 to Earl Hans and Mamie Eliza Weeks Adams in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was raised in Swan Valley, Idaho, learning the importance of hard work at an early age as her family etched their living on the farm. The family moved to Idaho Falls so that Marcene could attend High School.

In Idaho Falls, Marcene was hired to work at the P&H Market, where she met Elmer Paul Haacke. They courted and were married May 9, 1945. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. From this union 3 children were born: Don Paul (Sheryl), Von Kay (Sheree), and Marsha Lee (Joel) Judd. Early in their marriage, Paul and Marcene lived in San Diego, CA and later in Idaho Falls, ID, Elko, NV and Ogden, UT, where they reared their children. The family enjoyed picnics, outings, vacations, visiting extended family, and spending time together. Their posterity includes 9 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren (with one more to be born in April). While raising their family, Marcene pursued a career in nursing, leading to a 30 plus year passion that provided satisfaction for her and others as a registered nurse. She worked as a surgical nurse at McKay-Dee Hospital and as a nurse for Dr. William Egbert until she retired in 1993. Paul passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 1970.

In 1979, Marcene married Delbert Eugene Beck, Sr. Delbert''s children: Delbert Jr., Judy Verbeck, Douglas, Gary, and their spouses allowed her the privilege to be a grandmother of Delbert''s 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Delbert and Marcene made their home in Roy where she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She became a master at both. Together they took pleasure in gardening, traveling, especially to Israel, and camping at LaPlatta with their large family. Delbert brought to this marriage the talent of creating delicious candies and chocolates. Many wonderful hours were spent in their "candy kitchen" hand-dipping chocolates to share with family and friends. Marcene was blessed with wonderful friendships as a result of her enthusiasm for candy making. Delbert passed away in 2005.

Marcene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to sing hymns, play the piano, and lead the music. She relished in the knowledge she gained through her faithful attendance.

Following Delbert''s death, Marcene moved to Pleasant View to live with her daughter and son-in-law and was a member of the Pleasant View 7th Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and son Don. She is survived by her children and siblings, Norma Goodwin, and Lonnie (Glenda) Adams.

The family wishes to thank Emeritus Estates, Mountain View Health Care, and Kathy Martin of Abundant Life Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant View LDS Stake Center, 2975 N. 1000 W. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
