Obituary written by Sylvia herself:

Inger Sylvia Dahlstrom, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was born in Kalmar, Sweden, January 12, 1934, to Axel Albert Adrian Dahlstrom, and Edla Edith Matilda Dahlstrom. Our family met the missionaries in 1948 in Kalmar. My mother was baptized in 1948. I was baptized and confirmed when I was 18 years old, on June 22, 1952, in Stockholm, Sweden during a conference presided by prophet David O. McKay. Two of my brothers and grandmother Anna Karlsson were also baptized. The prophet David O. McKay and his wife shook our hands and welcomed us as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I worked and translated for the missionaries, and our family helped them in our little branch. About 12 members and I immigrated to Utah in June 1955 with my oldest brother Stig. I met Arthur Ouzounian at a roadshow at the 18th Ward. He was an immigrant from Armenia. We dated several months. I had my patriarchal blessing in the fall of 1955, where it was made known to me that Arthur and I were to marry. We were engaged in the Salt Lake Temple in 1956 and married on the 29th of March 1957 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple. We raised our family in Bountiful, UT.

I have held several positions in the church at the ward and stake level. We raised two boys and two girls Monica, Artine, Sonya, and Daniel. Our family was called by our prophet to work in the Swedish branch in Salt Lake City, Utah. We served there 17 years. I was relief society president for six years. Arthur and I served a mission for one and a half years in the Stockholm Sweden temple from 1995 to 1997. It was a wonderful time. We helped members across Europe and Russia learning several languages to help them. We had a lot of help from our Father in Heaven. We prayed often and prayers were answered.

I am thankful for the gospel and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am thankful for all my blessings from our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ.

From Sylvia’s children:

Our dear mother passed away peacefully at age 92 in North Salt Lake City, UT, on March 29th 2026. She was an incredible woman of faith. She was selfless, humble, gentle, and kind. She treasured her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will always be remembered for her service to family and everyone she knew. She was known for having a special spirit about her that lifted, strengthened, and edified those around her. Everyone loved Sylvia and her infectious smile.

Our mother was a talented musician and singer. She was known for her ability to play the guitar and harmonica at the same time. She loved her Swedish culture and raised us to appreciate our Swedish heritage. We celebrated Swedish traditions that were important to her, and we all grew to love them as she did.

Family was very important to our mother, and she gave us her all. Sylvia leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and charity. Her life has influenced all in her path. She will not be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ouzounian, and her brothers Stig and Sten Dahlstrom. Sylvia is survived by two brothers, Leif and Bengt Dahlstrom, her four children, Monica (Karl-Erik) Forsman, Artine (Tina) Ouzounian, Sonya (Jon) Jarrett, and Daniel (Andrea) Ouzounian as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
