Ida Marlene Peterson Flint passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, after a lifetime of sharing kindness and fostering familial strength.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 20, 1931, as the youngest child of Magnus Ray Peterson and Ida Jane Lords.
After graduating from Granite High School, Marlene continued her education at Stevens-Henager Business College. She worked for several companies when younger, but primarily at Merrill Lynch. She worked for many years and finished her career at Weber Basin Water Conservancy District.
On May 26, 1961, Marlene married her lifelong husband Ivan W. Flint. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Bountiful Temple. The two of them were nearly inseparable for 56 years until Ivan’s passing in 2017. Together, they made their home in Kaysville, Utah. They also loved to travel together & visited many states where she supported Ivan during his career.
Marlene was a gifted cook whose Sunday dinners remain some of the family's most treasured memories. She consistently adored and gently guided her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until the last days of her earthly life.
She was a prolific reader and the family’s biggest sports fan. She and Ivan contributed greatly to their community through volunteerism and opportunities such as being Olympic ambassadors.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; her parents; her two sisters; and her three brothers. She also joins one granddaughter who preceded her in passing.
Her legacy lives on through her three sons and their families: Blaine W. Flint, Tage Ivan Flint (Lisa); and Wade P. Flint (Sheryl). Marlene is adored by her six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Marlene never ceased to put others before herself and be appreciative of all the goodness around her.
