Howard Charles Woodfield, 90, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Beehive Homes Assisted Living Center of causes incident to age.

He was born April 3, 1917 in North Ogden, Utah to John Aaron and Margaret May Chadwick Woodfield.

On October 3, 1940, Howard married Emma Leila Martin in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 65 years before Emma preceded him on death on March 2, 2004.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous positions and callings during his lifetime.

Dad was born to be a farmer. He loved working the land, being outdoors and anything to do with agriculture. He milked dairy cows and raised crops and beef cattle. He also served as master of the North Ogden Irrigation Canal and also managed the North Ogden Fruit Exchange, where he was in charge of boxing and shipping fruit by train to various regions of the United States. At the time of his retirement he was the supervisor of grounds for Weber County School District. He had a green thumb which produced many beautiful school grounds for Weber County. He took great pride in his own yard growing beautiful gardens and flowers.

Surviving are his three children, Elaine (Brent) Story, Liberty; LaRae (Chuck) Crippen, North Ogden; Alan (Cherie) Woodfield, North Ogden; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd J. Woodfield, St. George.

Including his wife he was preceded in death by three sisters, and three brothers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Christensen and Vista Care Hospice, especially Amy and Christie, for their superior care of Dad.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Friends and family may call Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
