Hiroshi Ozaki

November 21, 1931 ~ May 7, 2016

Hiroshi Ozaki passed away on May 7, 2016 at his home in North Ogden, UT. He was born on November 21, 1931 at the Maluhia Hospital on the Island of Maui, Hawaii, to Hatsuo and Chiyoshi Ozaki on November 21, 1931.

He was married to Bonnie Nozaki, formerly of Plain City, Utah, on March 28, 1970 at the Japanese Christian Church in Ogden, Utah. They had three children, Robert, Elizabeth, and Jennifer. He is also survived by his sister, Sachie Ohata.

He was privileged to have been raised in Hawaii where his happiest and loving memories were experienced; a love of place, nature and humanity, where everyone was part of a single OHANA (family).

While his college education expanded his knowledge, and his work experiences took him from Chicago, back to Hawaii, then to Washington DC and San Francisco. His most memorable and lasting achievement was being elected by the voters of Molokai, Lanai and the Hansen’s Disease district of Kalaupapa, to be their Delegate to the Hawaii Constitutional Convention of 1968.

A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Keawalai Congregational Church at Makena, Maui, Hawaii on a date to be set later. After the service, his ashes will be taken by canoe outside of Makena Beach to be scattered where other departed Ozaki family members currently rest, to be joined together for eternity.

His family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of the Peak Specialty Group of Hospice Staff, including Doctor Van Christiansen, Nurse Annette Wood, Social Worker Mike Rigby, Aide Shawnette and Volunteer Jared for their dedicated patient care prior to his passing.

Much Aloha (love) and Mahalo (thanks) to all who participated in his life experiences.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.  NO KODEN.  No flowers.  Please make a contribution to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
