Helen Joyce Lindsay Jensen

Joyce Jensen passed away January 29, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 29, 1926 in Heber City, Utah to Dawson and Helen Meservy Lindsay.

Joyce grew up in Heber and moved to Salt Lake in 1942 where she promptly met the love of her life at age 16, Arthur Gordon Jensen. They were married November 5, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their marriage was one of great happiness and respect. They would spend the next 65 years working and playing together until his death in May 2007. It is a great comfort to know they are together again.

She worked at H.A.F.B. where she was a Supervisory Personnel Administration Specialist, retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service as a Personnel Computer Systems Analyst responsible for computerizing all civilian personnel records. She was one of the first female GS 12''s and highest paid women on Base.

Joyce also served for many years as a Loan Approval Officer for the Federal Employees Credit Union. She was a doe at the BPOE #719 Ogden Elk''s Lodge. She was secretary for the Ogden Camera Club at the Bertha Eccles Art Center.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Second Counselor in the Relief Society in her ward. They also worked for 2 years at the Ogden Temple. She served a two-year mission at the Ogden Family History Center and volunteered for another four years there. She spent many hours extracting names and indexing data for her Church''s genealogical program.

Her life was her family and her dear husband. She loved her flower gardens and books. YOU NEVER SAW JOYCE WITHOUT A BOOK. She enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting with Gordon. They traveled to Yellowstone every spring and fall, mom driving and dad taking pictures. She spent many years making quilts for her daughters, grandchildren and even some of the great-grandchildren. She liked to do embroidery, making wall hangings of some. She adored her grandkids and great-grandkids taking them swimming every summer at the condo. In her later years, she even became a NASCAR fan.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Allen) Berrett, Taylor; Michele (Kim) Orr, Farr West; Darla (Kelly) Cunningham, Kaysville; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Johnson, Kaysville; and Carol Smith, Albuquerque, NM; and brother, Dr. Russell Jensen, Murray, UT.

She was preceded in death by parents; her dear husband, Arthur Gordon Jensen; son, Scott Arthur Jensen; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Clarke; brothers and brothers-in-law, David Lindsay, Lynn (Loree) Lindsay, Art Johnson, Lynn Smith and Clair Jensen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 3rd Ward, 5640 South 850 East, South Ogden. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
