Helen Smith Hepworth

January 13, 1932 — June 6, 2023

Helen Smith Hepworth, aka GG (great grandmother), was born on January 13, 1932, and passed away on June 6, 2023.

Helen Hepworth was an amazing woman with an incredible sense of humor.  Her fun way of life, and her frequently asked questions and answers, brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

“What is your favorite color?”

“What is your favorite swimming stroke?”

“What have you been doing today that is naughty and fun?”

When asked how she was doing, she would always answer, “Meaner than Hell!”

She accomplished a great deal in her lifetime.  She was motivated in many ways and directions.  She was also a "cloud watcher”.

Helen was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.

Her surviving and only children are Christine Bateman, Mark K. Hepworth, and Roxanne Hepworth.

Helen loved all animals, especially her own dogs, cats, and horses.  Her favorite tuxedo cat Dixie, definitely needs to be mentioned.

Helen built homes and fished alongside her husband Kay Hepworth throughout their lives together, and before his passing in December 2006.

Helen was very generous and loving to all of her family, friends, and care takers.  She was everyone’s grandmother, friend, mentor, and teacher.

She spent many years with her companion, and best friend, Jack Mower prior to her passing.

Helen graduated from The University of Utah.  She was a third grade school teacher for many years.  Her teaching forte’s were art, music, and cursive writing.

Helen was a prolific artist throughout her life.  She excelled in a wide range of art mediums and genres, which she developed as her life moved forward.  So many of her family and friends are recipients of her beautiful artwork.

Helen enjoyed playing the piano.  She played for her family and for her students.  She was also a master seamstress, gardener, as well as a swimming instructor.  Her talents and love for life were endless.

We would like to thank Canyon’s Hospice Care, and The Foothill Ridge Care Facility for Helen’s end of life care.  Everyone involved in her care were extremely loving, loyal, and dedicated to her.
