NORTH OGDEN a€" Helen Bateman Brown, 84, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, ended her journey here on earth on Saturday, June 11, 2011.

She was born in Burley, Idaho on February 24, 1927, the sixth daughter and ninth child, soon to be a family of 12, of George Albert Bateman and Ivy Myrtle Garside. At a very early age, her family moved to Ogden.

Helen graduated from Ogden High School in 1945. She entered Nursing School in September of that same year at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated in 1948. She worked at the Dee Hospital (24th and Harrison) as an operating room nurse for three years. She worked as a public health nurse in Ketchum, Idaho for a year. She later worked at the Veteran''s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Helen married Allan Lee Brown on December 3, 1955 in North Ogden, Utah. Their vows were solemnized on July 12, 1975 in the Ogden Temple. Their marriage was blessed with four sons: Mark Allan Brown (Sharon), North Ogden; Dr. Jeffrey James Brown (Joyce), Richfield, UT; David Bateman Brown, deceased; and Neal Richard Brown (Cynthia), North Ogden. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Jalizabeth (Andrew), Jamie (Viliami), Jennifer, Janelle (Nicholas), Aaron, Jessica, Brittney, Jeffrey, Melissa, Jerika, Jamisen, Jacob and Kiel, and seven great-grandchildren.

She traveled throughout Europe and the western United States with her husband''s military career. She lived in England, Idaho, Germany and Utah. She moved to North Ogden when Dad received an assignment to go to Turkey for a year. This was to be her home for the rest of her life. She loved her flowers and garden like her mother before her.

Helen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings in the church. She worked in the Relief Society organization in many different capacities. She and father served as temple workers in the Ogden Temple.

She loved to support her sons and grandchildren by attending their special events in their lives. She had a great love of the fine arts and took her sons, and later her daughters and grandchildren to the ballet, the opera, and musicals. She taught her family to enjoy music. She also had a wonderful singing voice. She was very unassuming. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and those principles were the guidelines in her life.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Helen is also survived by her sisters, Dean Hammon, Muriel Maw, and LaRae Bateman.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her son.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 20th Ward Chapel, 575 East 3100 North.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
