Heinz Manfred Wesemann, age 84, passed away peacefully May 24, 2016 in Layton, Utah due to complications following surgery.

Fred was born in Hannover, Germany, July 22, 1931, and was trained in the Tool and Die Making business.  He and his brother, Wolfgang “Bob” Wesemann of Bountiful, Utah, their parents, Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm and Anna Emma Kaethe Wesemann and paternal grandmother, Anna Wesemann, left Germany in  November1953 settling in Salt Lake City, Utah. After serving 2 years in the US Army, Fred moved to Honolulu, HI, and lived there for 40 years. He loved life, liked to laugh and have fun.  He generously entertained the Wesemann family, nephews and nieces at his place in Hawaii and enjoyed visiting Germany with the family. 

In 1996 Fred had to deal with severe physical and mental conditions difficult to diagnose and treat necessitating that he move to Salt Lake City where family help could be provided.  In Utah he spent most of his time in hospitals and recovery facilities. The last 14 years he resided at the Apple Tree Assisted Living where Specialty Nursing help was provided. In 2007 he asked his brother Wolfgang to baptize him a member of the LDS Church.  Fred arranged travel for Germany cousins to attend his Baptism ceremony. The family celebrated the event with sightseeing trips to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon.

Fred is survived by his brother Wolfgang (Louise)Bountiful, Utah, 5 nephews and one niece who will bid farewell to Fred at his funeral; Dan Wesemann, Retired  School Teacher of Music and German, Henderson, Nevada; Bishop David  (Christine) Wesemann, Electrical Engineer PE, President of  SLC Spectrum Engineering, Farmington, Utah; Darren (Stacey) Wesemann,  International Business Consultant, North Salt Lake, Utah; Debbie(Jim) Wesemann-Siebert DMA, Mezzo Soprano and Voice Adjudicator, Houston, Texas; Dr. Duane (Sandra) Wesemann, MD PhD, Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass.; Douglas (Anne) Wesemann, Structural Engineer PE, US Army Corps of Engineers, currently stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Fred is also survived by 23 grand nieces and nephews and is preceded in death by a grand niece, Adrienne Grace Wesemann.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful, Utah, with a viewing before services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.  Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
