Harold Dean Short, Sr. was born on October 6, 1946 to Raymond and Oveda Short in Gaston County, NC, the 9th of 10 children. He passed from this life on September 4, 2021 at the age of 74.

He was a 22-year Veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. He went on to have a 27-year career as a Civil Servant at Hill AFB but his favorite job was Papa to his 11 grandchildren, Jake Jr, Marley, Ian, Abigail, Eric, Haylee. Tyler. Gracie, Stockton, Spencer and Timmy and 2 great-grandchildren, Liam and Finnegan. They were the light of his life.

Harold is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Bobbie Lou Short, they were married in 1966.

He is also survived by his four children, Charlotte (Rich) Amiot, Steven (Suzy) Short, Harold D Jr (Danielle) Short, Becky Short and Sister Linda Lefevers of Bessemer City, NC.

Harold was an avid sports fan and loved the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed going to the Raptors games with his grandson Timmy. He had many hobbies throughout life. He loved riding bike, being in the water and running, he completed his goal of running a marathon.

Harold was a true southern gentleman and loved by all who knew him. His legacy is his children and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend an invitation to join them on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
