Gwen Eldene Chaffin Meredith, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on April 14, 1948, in Caldwell, Idaho, bringing joy to her family from the very beginning.

Gwen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah, an achievement that laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to education and service within her community. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she devoted her time and talents to teaching in various capacities, including Primary, Cub Scouts, and the Relief Society, where she also contributed her creativity to bulletin boards.

Beyond her commitments in education and service, Gwen had a rich life filled with diverse interests and hobbies. She found joy in crocheting, reading, and carving, as well as exploring other crafts. Gwen was a talented tailor and seamstress and made beautiful quilts, and baby blankets, many she donated to primary children’s. As she raised her family, she made her children’s clothing, including her daughter’s wedding dress. These pursuits were a testament to her creative spirit and her desire to share beauty with those around her.

Gwen’s family remained at the heart of her life. She is survived by her cherished sons, Michael J. Meredith Jr., Steven L. (Kristy) Meredith, and Joshua C. Meredith, as well as her daughters, Christina M. Taylor and Gillian M. (Michael) Steenblik. A proud grandmother, Gwen leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She also is remembered by her brothers, L. Frank (Charlotte) Chaffin, Scott Chaffin, Brian (April) Chaffin, and Lynn (Norma) Chaffin, who were a source of support and companionship throughout her life.

Gwen is preceded in death by her parents and her son Ian Jacob Meredith. Their memories will forever be cherished as she is remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will continue through those who were fortunate enough to know her, as they carry forward the values she exemplified throughout her life.
