LAYTON a€" Glen William Balls, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 due to complications of age.

He was born February 5, 1920 in Smithfield, Utah the son of LaVere Balls and Chloe Cantwell. His mother died soon after birth and he was later raised by his loving step-mother Leone Kresie.

Glen was raised in the Cache County area and left the wonderful world of farming to join the Army, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

Glen married Verla Marie Yaussi and had two sons Duayne (Barbara), West Point; and Steven (Carolyn) Balls, Layton. They later divorced. He then married Lillian Combe who preceded him in death as well as a sister Avon Mathias.

Surviving are his sons, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three brothers Elray, Weston, ID; Lloyd, Preston, ID; and Orvid Balls, Dayton, ID. Also a sister JoAnn Moore, SLC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.
