Georgia Mae West Taylor

June 22, 1930 — June 6, 2023

Georgia Mae West Taylor, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was born June 22, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to George William and Grace Aurora Pincock West.

 

May 30, 1957 she married Joseph Alma Taylor in Riverdale, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on March 25, 1972. To this union came three children, JoeLee Taylor, Kelly Rey Taylor, and Brenda Leigh Taylor (Kevin) Hunt.

 

She graduated from Ogden High School. After earning her Cosmetology degree, she and her sister Josie opened their own salon and later she had a salon in the home. She also worked for Weber School District in the school lunch program for many years.

 

Georgia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary Presidency and taught Primary and Relief Society.

 

She was a member of the Hooper and Weber County Farm Bureau. Georgia and Joseph were awarded the Distinguished Service to Member Award.

 

She enjoyed bowling and bowled for many years on a night league with dad. She bowled on a women’s league with her aunt, sister, niece, and good friend, even making it to the International Finals. She later bowled on a league with her brothers and sister-in-law. She loved reading and doing word search puzzles.

 

Georgia is survived by her three children all of Hooper; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, William George West (Lajuan-deceased) and Alan Lee (Marion) West both of Ogden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Taylor; her sisters and their spouses, Josie and Kenneth Edmunds, Faun and Donald Paul; Evelyn and Arvel Dean, and Donna and Jesse Tracy.

 

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hooper Stake Center, 5375 South 5900 West.

 

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
