George Robert Sieb

April 22, 1926 — November 23, 2023

Bountiful

George Robert Sieb, 97, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born in Gary, Indiana. He and his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen Brossard, were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple in 2009. George was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his children Bronwyn, Don, Toni, John, and George and family.

George, lovingly known as Dad, had a vibrant personality and was well-loved by his family and friends. He had a natural talent for storytelling and enjoyed engaging in conversations about current events, science news, and life stories. Dad had a knack for narrative-style jokes that always ended with a belly laugh. He was known for his generosity and caring nature, especially when it came to supporting widows in his congregation after the passing of his beloved wife. Dad was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and even strangers.

George was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1950s in Michigan. He particularly enjoyed his 40 years in his Bountiful ward with the many members he admired. He often bore his testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel and of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Favorite callings of service in this ward were as a counselor in his High Priest Group presidency and many years of faithful home teaching and ministering.

George had a commendable military service record. He was a veteran who served in the navy during WWII in the Pacific Fleet and later continued his service in the US Coast Guard in Grand Haven, Michigan for several years. His dedication and commitment to his country are deeply appreciated.

After his military service and during his career as tradesman, George earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and pursued a career as an industrial arts and history teacher in Bountiful. He was highly regarded for his creative projects that taught students various skills in metalwork, woodworking, and electrical systems. One of his notable achievements was coordinating joint projects among different construction disciplines, where students would collaborate to build houses.

Outside of his profession, George was an avid family historian submitting many names of ancestors for temple work and connecting extended living family members. He also had a passion for sailing and boating. He spent much of his life enjoying the open waters, owning several boats throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 650 S 200 E Bountiful, UT 84010. Visitation with a viewing will begin at 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by the memorial service at 1:00. A brief graveside service will take place at Bountiful City Cemetery.

In memory of George, contributions can be made to some of his favorite charities, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints fast offering (to help the needy), missionary work, and humanitarian aid. He helped support many missionaries in his extended family as well as

others. He also supported the Salt Lake City Mission, The Salvation Army, Rescue Mission of Salt Lake City, Smile Train, Doctors Without Borders, Boys Town, and St Labre Indian School.

George Robert Sieb leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family, church, country, and community. He will be forever remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
