George Franklin Heiner

October 12, 1940 ~ May 28, 2022

George Franklin Heiner passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease on May 28, 2022, at the George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. Dad was 81 years old. He was born to Sylvester Moroni Heiner and Carol Fullmer Heiner in Ogden, Utah, on October 12, 1940. Dad attended Ogden High School graduating in 1958. He married Bonnie Scott in 1959 and later divorced. He married Gloria Bruce in 1963 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1966.

Dad was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army’s 9th Infantry Division from 1966 to 1969. He attended Weber State College and Utah State University graduating with an MBA. He was self-employed in the insurance industry providing life insurance and employee benefit plans. He was highly engaged in community and volunteer service with Ogden City Planning and Trails, and with the Boy Scouts. Dad was dedicated to his family and brought love and joy into our lives. He cherished his wife Gloria, and together created a beautiful companionship and a fulfilling life. He loved to entertain and make us laugh. He was our prime example of doing good and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dad was always kind, giving, and ministered to all without hesitation. His love and genuine concern for others was fully demonstrated in his friendships, service, and volunteer work. Dad had deep faith in Jesus Christ and delighted in his active membership and his many ecclesiastical leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dad is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Wolthuis (Robert), Stan (Marilyn), Val (Kay), Annette Batchelor (Grant), Sandra Cope (Dave); daughter, Kathleen Stemler (Jim); sons, Scott (Colleen), Paul (Angie), Mark, Adam (Wendy); and he was a second dad to Edie Jo Fisher (Scott); 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.

Dad was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria; his parents; and daughter-in-law, Wendy.
