George Evans

George Merlin Evans, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, died May 3, 2016 after a long illness.

He was born in Salt Lake City on June 28, 1941 to Edward William Evans Jr and Almeida Webb Evans.  He served in the United States Navy for over 23 years and worked in Civil Service for Fallon Air Force Base for many years.  He dedicated most of his life in service to his country.

George married Sada Namika and they settled in Fallon, NV in 1985, after having resided in Japan, Sunny Vale, CA and other areas.  Sada died November 3, 1998.  He married Mary Ellen Kuhn on October 13, 2002.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

George is survived by his wife, son Mark, grandson Mark Jr, brothers Edward William and Alfred Thurston, and sisters Elizabeth Eloise and Alice Twyla Thompson, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon Weaver, and sister-in-law Gladys Evans.

Graveside services will be held on May 18, 2016 at 3p.m.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary.
