Gayle C. Halverson passed from this mortal life on May 22, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on January 6, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Leslie G. and Elda Kerby Cullimore. She married Marlowe Dale Halverson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 11, 1954. He passed away on November 4, 1976.

Gayle attended Ogden High School and graduated from Weber State College in 1955 with an Associate of Science in Nursing degree. It was the first ever registered nurse program in the school’s history. This was something she endeared throughout her life. She worked as an RN for 36 years starting at the county health department, then moving to the newborn nursery at the old Dee Memorial Hospital. She also worked at McKay Dee Hospital in the pediatric unit for 6 years. After she went to work as the school nurse at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind, retiring after 24 years. She taught herself sign language early on. She truly loved being with the students and strived each day to “make their lives a little better”. She received the Employee of the Year award for the 2002 – 2003 school year.

Gayle was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed many callings in her wards and stakes. She was an Ogden Temple ordinance worker for many years and a Guest Services missionary. From 2012 to 2014. She traveled with her “Eternal Buddies” and toured nearly 30 LDS Temples. Gayle was a member of the Junior League of Ogden, Arts International, Le Livre Literary Club, Delta Kapp Gamma, Aglaia, Child Culture Club, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Gayle was always selflessly serving others. After retirement, she volunteered for 7 years in Ogden’s Seager Memorial Clinic located in the Ogden Rescue Mission, providing medical care for homeless and low-income individuals.
