In the very early hours of June 5, 2025, Gail June Farber comfortably and peacefully passed away at the age of 88 from causes related to cerebellar atrophy.
Gail was born on October 30, 1936, to Alan Justus and Katie June Wadsworth. She was raised in Ogden, Utah and had the protection and everlasting friendship from her older brother, Paul Alan Farber. They shared a lifetime of adventures, friends, and great memories. The Farber family spent most weekends on family trips fishing in the High Uinta lakes and streams.
Through the tough years of the depression in the 1940’s and the evolution of “Jitter-bug” in the 1950’s Gail always had great ideas to live her best life and make the best of all situations. Gail sewed many of her own clothes, churned butter for the family dinners, and rocked her cat-eye glasses as her necessary fashion statement.
Gail graduated from Weber High School in 1954 and worked as a secretary, stenographer, and accountant for the R.R. Retirement Board, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, F.B.I., Commercial Security Bank and the I.R.S. She served an L.D.S. Stake Mission in Washington D.C. and South Ogden, Utah.
Gail developed many friendships through her dedicated work as a gifted teacher for 20 years in the Davis County School District. She was an accomplished graduate of Weber State University with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees for Art/Education. Gail received a second Master’s degree in Art History/Education from Brigham Young University in 1996. Gail retired from teaching at Mountain High School in 1999. Gail had a personality that could relate with everyone, but especially with young adults and changed the lives of countless teenagers, helping them graduate from high school, giving them a second chance.
Gail loved dancing, watercolor, family history, gardening, and skiing. Gail’s family shared the gift of beautiful art through drawing, painting, sculpture and unique creations for all to enjoy. Gail, Paul, and their mother, Katie, won many awards and were honored for their work. Gail’s favorite skills of perfection were seen through her beautiful watercolor prints and her love of creating pottery.
With inspiration and dedication, Gail was the proud mother of four children providing each one as many opportunities as she possibly could. To name a few, she sang songs from Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and yes, Monty Python’s Holy Grail. Gail could make any house chore list fun and worked right along with us to keep our tiny house clean. She built forts, arranged school plays, sewed costumes, painted the faces for the “band KISS”, baked and decorated the most beautiful cakes, made home movies, taught her own four children and their friends how to snow ski, and know the meaning of hard work.
Gail was able to retire and enjoy traveling to the many historical places she had dreamed and taught about for many years. She enjoyed Italy, Greece, Egypt, Germany, France, Spain, London, Canada, and the Panama Canal. With her retirement she concluded her travels returning back to Utah to enjoy her Assisted Living Family at the Legacy House, Inspiration Hospice and close family.
Gail is survived by her four children, Chris James, Jeff James, Keith James, and Susie Hatch. She was the very loved grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
As per Gail’s request, there will be a grave dedication at a later date at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden, Utah.
Service will be held at a future date
